So I haven't written for quite some time. I also haven't exercised. Yes, I'm a horrible lazy person. Actually, I'm not, but thanks for even THINKING about agreeing. I mean to write, like I mean to wake up at five in the morning and risk injury to shuffle my feet in a fast pace up and down my street. My neighbors would probably peer through their curtains and mumble, "Bless her fat little heart."
So, yes. I have curves. They say: "Real women have curves." Well, that obviously makes me a really, really, really, really real woman. REALLY. I'm not Jaba the Hut obese, mind you. I can get around without slithering like a slug and drooling over the site of cheesecake. ... Okay. I don't slither around like a slug.
I found out recently that a few of my gal pals have lost weight. I'm not talking about a few pounds here and there. I'm talking about "looking-great-make-you-a-little-jealous-and-want-to drown-your-fluffy-sorrows-in-a-pint-of-Chubby-Hubby" GREAT! So, I'm motivated. I even looked at myself in the bathroom, and gave myself a pep talk. Yes, I really did. Then, reality sank in.
This. Is. Really. Going. To. Suck.

Bring Back Whom?
So here we are, after the hashtag selfies #BringBackOurGirls, we've decided to put baby in the corner. Forget the bath water. It's the acid test that needed to be thrown out with the predictability of our society. As I punched in the characters in search for news about the girls, the results were dwarfed by the coverage of the Kardashian-West wedding. Yes, we are more concerned about the nuptials of egotistical megalomaniacs than the plight of nearly 280 girls who long to be home with their loved ones. Yes, let's put those babies in the corner...at least after the wedding.

#BringBackOurGirls Makes Me ...
Unless you are a Luddite or have abstained from media, you
have more likely seen the #BringBackOurGirls campaign. Pundits, politicians,
and even pinheads have opined on the kidnapping of nearly 280 school girls by
the Boko Haram terrorist group. While I applaud the concerted efforts and
activism of many to bring indignation and resolution to this travesty of human
rights, I find it all, well, sad.
It is sad that prior to these abductions, these girls were anonymous to the world. Their struggles were not a thought in our preoccupied minds. We were not aware of their plight and passion for education. We were oblivious to their dreams of being more and achieving more. While we were seized with super-sized conundrums, they were envisioning personal accomplishment only afforded by being educated.

It is sad that social media is fickle. There is what others refer to as an “acid test” to determine the sustainability of a story to hold our interests. For one thing, I’m glad to take a break from the glut of selfies and feline fixation that bombard my screens. However, this isn’t a slow news week. It’s a long, hard road for these girls.

I Used To Go To Church
As a Christian, it is expected for us to have some form of fellowship, to attend church. Sunday morning, we rise, put on clothes we've planned to wear, take a leisurely drive, greet friends and perhaps family, and take our seat in the sanctuary. We are ready to receive God’s message in song and sermon. For many, thinking about that ritual is met with indifference, rejection, or resentment. We appreciate the gesture, because we know that many invitations are given from a caring place. We acknowledge it, and place it in the peripherals of our concerns (if we don’t all together discard it.)

And in my opining, I've had people tell me that I'm overreacting and asked "what's the big deal" about Miley. Before I answer that question, let me inaugurate this suspected passionate and perhaps discourteous sentiment on the contentious matter. ...
